Nevan Romanlung (ネヴァン・ローマルング, nevan rōmarungu) is the daughter and successor of Duke Romanlung. Nevan is also the upperclassman of Lugh Tuatha Dé by one year in the Royal Knight Academy reigning as the indisputable top student of her year, and currently works with Lugh and his party to slay the demon race. Her outstanding talents and reputation as the best of her generation among her family earned her the right to use the name of Romanlung. Additionally, she is the only known light magic user of her country, granting her the title of 'Princess of Light' & considered 'The greatest treasure of the Alvanian Kingdom'.
Appearance[]
Nevan is a young woman with silky purple hair and divine golden eyes. Her appearance is considered paragon among the human race due to her privileged and well-crafted lineage of her predecessors whom only bred with the most beautiful and gifted of individuals. She occasionally dons the image and is commonly mistaken for Princess Farina possibly being her twin sister.
Personality[]
Nevan's personality is hard to pinpoint even for Lugh, as she has multiple sides to her when dealing with different people. At times, she could be like a little girl who greatly enjoys rare commodity like chocolate while other times, she could say things which surprises even Lugh. Her favourite past time is playing the piano which gives off a beautiful and sophisticated melody to listeners.
She's shown to be very cunning and calculating, with the ability to formulate strategies on par with Lugh's. She likes to be flirtatious and tease Lugh when interacting with him, which leads to the group often ignoring her. Thus, she tends to pout to attract his attention, showing her innocent side, though it is likely feigned. Due to her upbringing, she learned that men found more pleasure in innocent gestures than flawless behaviour, but despite her attempts at innocence, her perfect execution allowed Lugh to know it was an act. She is shown to be dejected whenever Lugh reverts back to addressing her formally, making their disparate societal ranks apparent.
She is a master of disguise, negotiation, and impersonation, capable of putting on an entirely different persona or acting in a faultless dignified manner, depending on what the situation calls for. She is incredibly astute, as with one glance she could tell that Dia's pedigree was not that of a ranking as low as a Baron, rather it was on par with hers. None the less, she still decided to respect and play along with 'Claudia'.
Despite her fickle personality, she is shown to genuinely care for the Kingdom and those she has made connections with. Her childhood friend, Naoise, wanted to join Lugh in his campaign against the demons, so she decided to masquerade as a guard, which Lugh failed to discern, to Naoise a lesson.
However, since Tarte easily defeated him, it saved her trouble. She made it clear that Naoise is unfit to be a Romanlung and that she doesn’t see him as someone worthwhile, comparing him to an 'inept little brother'. This shows Lugh that even one of Naoise's pedigree who ranks as a top student of the academy was considered virtually nothing to someone of her standing.
She made it clear that Lugh is the one she wants, and his blood is unequivocally needed in her family. If it was just a matter of him being a Tuatha De, her authority could easily eliminate the boundary, but his title as the Holy Knight adds an additional layer of difficulty. As a result, she decided to use the straightforward approach of making him fall in love with her. She is extremely confident in this, though if that approach were to fail, she is not above raping him, even going as far as telling him that it would be over before he knows it. She is willing to write a letter to say that Lugh wouldn’t be held liable for any harm that comes her way since, for her, it is the duty of every aristocrat to stand in the firing line to protect their country.
She has a great deal of belief in Lugh, not based on trust but rather intuition, as she instantly approved his plans without looking through them. She then started preparing to become a squire of the Holy Knight, telling Lugh to do the same. With that, Lugh gained an unexpected and frightening teammate; with the worst case scenario of having to sleep with her, he laments that he'd then need to have a long conversation with the other girls.
Background[]
House Romanlung being a dukedom is the direct superior of House Tuatha Dé who are baronies. They take explicit orders from them and dictate who is chosen to be assassinated, much to the unawareness of the general public. House Romanlung is indisputably the most powerful Noble house in the Alvan Kingdom, holding even more power than the royal family. Some even calls them an Empire whereby if they ever decide to declare war, even if everyone else were to unite, it was unquestionable that House Romanlung would emerge victorious. They possess the most beautiful garden in the world and their jurisdiction is far-reaching, encompassing everything from farming, industrialisation, marketing and much more that are known to be top-notch.
Her father is a close friend of the King and has great sway in the going-ons of the Kingdom. Her name echoes all the way to the Kingdom of Soigel, making Dia flabbergasted at how Lugh was able to interact with such a big shot. Her family has been breeding and educating themselves for hundreds of years in the pursuit of creating the ultimate human beings. As a result, they were able to gather the smartest and highest specs citizens, enabling influence extending in all directions. Their technology is also the most advanced in the world, being two steps ahead of the world's standard. They have at least 200 swordsman with steel swords compared to the low-purity iron the world uses and 200 mages with enough power for Lugh to deem as threats, making them the strongest army. Furthermore, they were also able to create bow-guns allowing non-mages to kill mages, dispelling the previous notion thought to be impossible.
To outsiders, her father is the uncle of Princess Farina, the future Queen of the Kingdom, making her the 1st cousin of the Princess, though Lugh speculates them to possibly be twin sisters. Her father has purposefully showed Lugh the abovementioned might of their family so that he could be compelled to take over the family by becoming his son-in-law. Lugh understands his rationale that conceited aristocrats have become a detriment to their Kingdom and only people like them should lead the country, though is still coming to terms between House Tuatha De and House Romanlung.
As the future Duchess of Romanlung, she asked for Princess Farina's and her father's permission to 'borrow' Lugh every once in a while, with the latter readily accepting and even encouraging it to happen.
Her room is decorated and described to be the apex of sophistication unique to only real aristocrats. In other words, she has great taste in Lugh's mind. The Castle her family lives in is renowned and is more salubrious than even the Royal Family's Palace.
The house of Romanlung have spent countless generations creating the "perfect human" through gene selection and education, with each subsequent generation being better than the former. In the present, Nevan is the peak of their creation, with beauty and abilities considered at the pinnacle of human beings.
Currently, the house have set their focus on Lugh, believing him to be the most suitable in making an heir with Nevan, further spurred on by her own feelings towards him. Duke Romanlung invariably asks Lugh and Nevan whenever he sees them for the day he could see their grandchild, with Lugh replying that he has no answers to that for now.
Power & Abilities[]
Nevan is an extremely powerful individual with a list of authentic accomplishments to her name. She is said to be able to easily dispatch Tarte in her beastified form even when she was blessed with Lugh's and the Hero's powers. With one observation, Lugh knew that he was dealing with a true 'monster'. Even when surpressed, Lugh knew that Tarte stood no chance against her. She also gained the upper hand against Lugh numerous times in their mental warfare, making him lament on how often she was able to make things go her way.
Magic Attributes[]
Light[]
Nevan excels in light magic, earning the title Shining Princess (輝きの姫). However, as light is one of the two rare attributes of magic, Nevan cannot use any other attributes. Light is considered an outrageously powerful ability as it has the fastest, longest-reaching and high performance magic spells. Its' attack travels at the speed of light and can easily span over several kilometers. Lugh candidly states that once you’re in her sights, it's 'lights out' for you.
Furthermore, light is the most comprehensive element as it is not limited to only attacking, exploring and healing aspects but also has top-performance in every other comprehensible areas. However, the drawbacks and reasons why Lugh didn’t choose this ability is because it can only be be acquired individually and lacks in offensive capabilities when analysing the ratio of attack power per mana consumed. Thus, the four basic abilities had more priority when taking down the Hero.
Healing Magic[]
Due to her innate ability with Light, this rare power is a product only granted to users of this affinity. This power is considered to be on a completely different realm compared to Tuathe De who are limited to only enhancing self-healing and assisting in surgical procedures. It can only be described as a conceptual healing entity with the power it grants.
Relationships[]
Lugh Tuatha Dé[]
Nevan has a great interest in Lugh, believing that he is worthy of marrying into House Romanlung. After he shows that he's able to think on par with her and has vast knowledge and technology beyond this world's, her desire to have him becomes ever more strengthened. However, Lugh at the moment has no interest in her sexually, mostly in consideration for the other girls, but is also not above sleeping with her as the last possible option. On the other hand, Nevan will be satisfied as long as she gets her hand on Lugh's genes. Her curiosity for him is insatiable since in her eyes, he still seem so enigmatic, both in terms of power and as a person.
Dia Viekone[]
Knowing Dia only by her alias, Claudia Tuatha Dé, the younger sister of Lugh, Nevan nevertheless recognised her status and viewed Dia as having a similar pedigree to herself. Nevan taught Dia the basics of light magic, and afterwards, Dia created more light spells for her, adding to her already versatile arsenal.
Tarte[]
Nevan views Tarte as a hard-working commoner and also recognizes her ability as a competent fighter in the field. Tarte sees her as someone impossibly beautiful, so much so that it has made her breathless numerous times.
Naoise Gephis[]
Nevan sees Naoise as an idiotic younger brother, but is shown to worry about his well-being since they were childhood friends.
